Steve Spurrier is a Gator's legend. He was UF’s 1966 Heisman Trophy winning QB and field goal kicker (just ask Auburn). In 1990, Spurrier put a visor on his head and turned the Gator Football program into a juggernaut winning multiple SEC titles and the 1996 National Championship. The HBC also directed the South Carolina Gamecocks to some of their best seasons and is currently their winningest head coach.

A tailback for the Gators from 1990 to 1993, Errict Rhett is UF’s career rushing leader with 4,163 yards. He also amassed 34 touchdowns, currently the third best in Gator history. His senior year he was named a first team All-American and was the MVP of the 1994 Sugar Bowl. Rhett played seven years in the NFL, most notably for Tampa Bay where he rushed for over 1,000 yards in his first two seasons.

Dubbed the “Cuban Comet”, Carlos Alvarez was a star wide receiver from 1969 to 1971. He was part of the “Super Sophs” who led UF to its then all-time best record of 9-1-1. He was also a consensus All-American and a Gator record holder for receptions and receiving yards. The Gainesville Sun selected Alvarez as #7 among the top 100 Gators during the first 100 years of UF Football. In 2011, he was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame.

With 133 receptions for 1,929 yards, 194 rushing attempts for 1,852 yards and a total of 32 touchdowns (most ever by a UF wide receiver), Percy Harvin is the definition of prolific. He’s also a winner at every level, including a high school state title, 2 national championships with the Gators and Super Bowl XLVIII with the Seattle Seahawks where he returned the second half opening kickoff 87 yards for a TD.

One of the best players to ever put on shoulder pads, Emmitt Smith is the all-time leading rusher in NFL history with 18,355 yards. A record that will probably never be eclipsed. Before he became a Dallas Cowboy legend, Smith broke virtually every record at UF, including running for 316 yards in a single game. #22 is a first ballot Hall of Famer and the pride of the Gator Nation.

One of the best QBs in Gator history, Danny Wuerffel led the NCAA in touchdown passes in 1995 and 1996. He also set several school and conference records during his career. But it was his senior season that etched his name into UF history. That’s when he captured both the National Championship and the coveted Heisman Trophy, which happens to be on display here at Spurrier’s Gridiron Grille.

For 19 years, Billy Donavon led the Gator men’s basketball team to incredible heights, reaching 3 Final Fours and winning back-to-back championships in ‘06 and ‘07. Today, the court at the O’Dome bears his name. While football isn’t his sport, we’re still thrilled to count Billy Donovan amongst Spurrier’s Gator Greats.

From winning a national title in 2006 to delivering on a promise to win a second in 2008 to capturing the Heisman Trophy, Tim Tebow is the epitome of a Gator legend. His strength of character, magnetic personality and unyielding positivity have transcended sports. Tebow is in rarified air. We couldn’t be prouder to welcome him into the Spurrier’s Gator Greats.

As the Gators star QB from 1990 to 1992, Shane Matthews led UF to its first official SEC championship. He was there when the HBC started his stint as head coach and made the most of the new Fun 'n' Gun offensive scheme. In fact, Matthews led the conference in passing for three consecutive years and finished with a career efficiency rating of 137.6. He also had a long NFL career.
